Program Description

Event Details

Did you know that fungi have a kingdom of their own?  Join Lorenzo Lo Piccolo to learn about the Fungi Kingdom and Michigan species.  This presentation will cover a fungal introduction, foraging and safety tips, foraging etiquette/sustainability, gardening uses, basic identification and a review of Michigan’s most common mushrooms.

There will be specimens on display of Michigan fungi

Lorenzo Lo Piccolo began foraging mushrooms in the early 2000’s.  What began as a springtime mushroom interest quickly became a passion to forage and appreciate local fungi and plants, along with their mutual connections.  Lorenzo holds a Mushroom Certification in Michigan from NAMI/MDARD and enjoys sharing his experiences with audiences at public libraries and nature-loving institutions.

This program is presented in partnership with the Highland Garden Club.

Doors open at 6 for seating and refreshments, presentation begins at 6:30.

Please register as space is limited.
