Historian Jim Craft will discuss one of the most unique programs of the New Deal; the Federal Writers Project (FWP.) While it produced over a thousand publications, the main output was a series of travel guides cover each state in the Union. Critics then and now acclaim this work as the most comprehensive account of American society ever produced. Despite the outstanding work produced by the FWP, it ultimately became a scapegoat for critics of Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal.
